We’ve all seen the promotions – people claiming huge sums of online income. There are famous books about it – I recommend The Four Hour Workweek by Tim Ferris if you want to be inspired to change your financial life. But can it really be done?
Short answer – yes. It definitely can be done. But it is like anything else – not everyone will achieve the same level of success.
Think of a musician. He has talent, he loves his craft. Now – will he become a star? Maybe. Clearly some do. Some grind away in clubs and gigs until they get noticed. Some use platforms like reality TV to accelerate their launch. Others build a following through social media until one day their success seems inevitable. And some just seem to pop.
But not every talented musician becomes a mega star. The thing though – it isn’t the only option. Some musicians are local or regional stars, earning a living doing what they love. They aren’t living in mansions and driving Ferraris, but they have a good life, and enjoy their work. Others play gigs on the side; they have a job for their basic expenses, but playing to a local club on the weekends gives them some extra money, and doesn’t really feel like work. Others find a niche – maybe writing music for Youtube videos – and turn that into an income source.
It is the same with online income. There are definitely success stories. Some had to grind away for years, assembling a whole host of online systems which finally started to pay big dividends. Others used platforms to give them a jump start. (More on this in later posts).
But many don’t reach those lofty heights, earning monthly six figure incomes. Most don’t. But many do manage to earn some nice money on the side, doing something that doesn’t really feel like work. And it is a lot easier to do this online than trying to earn a living playing guitar or football.
Does it work? Yes, it can. There is no magic online money faerie. But with effort and creativity, and maybe a little help from an online community, you can make money online.
